CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) You know that spring is finally here when Dunbar Cave State Park holds its annual Spring Fling event, set for this Saturday, May 5 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m.

All of the activities for families to enjoy throughout the day are free and are sponsored by the Friends of Dunbar Cave.

From 8-9 a.m. there is a Trees and Plant Walk with APSU Botanist Dr. Wayne Chester to learn more about the trees and other plants on a hike along the trails.

Find out about The Good, The Bad & The Ugly in your backyard from 9-9:50 a.m. as Polly Rooker, TWRA Nongame Biologist, shares information about what the “good” pollinators provide as well as things to avoid in your backyard.

Urban Wildlife will be the topic from 10-10:50 a.m. when Walden’s Puddle Wildlife Rehabilitation & Education Center talks about some of the animals that you will find living in our community.

The exciting Wings to Soar is next from 11-11:50 a.m. as Save Our American Raptors gives an educational program showing various native birds of prey. You’ll learn about each of the bird’s history, more about its species and how it fits into the natural world.

The Wings to Soar program will be repeated from 1-1:50 p.m. and as in the first presentation, some of the birds are flighted which will make for some lively audience encounters.

Between 8 a.m. – 2 p.m., you can enjoy the Reef & Reptiles Exhibit where you can find out more about care and conservation.

Overflow parking and shuttle service will be offered from Swan Lake Sports Complex with all of the activities starting at the Dunbar Cave Visitor Center. Refreshments will also be provided by Friends of Dunbar Cave and Tennessee Trails with donations greatly appreciated.
