CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A recent study of public opinion conducted by Yale University shows that a majority of registered Republicans and Democrats in Tennessee would support additional research into renewable energy sources.

The study measured public opinion for both parties by congressional district in each state. In the state of Tennessee, 87% of Democrats and 70% of Republicans said they would support the research.

In Congressional District 7, which encompasses Clarksville-Montgomery County, 86% of Democrats and 71% of Republicans are in favor of the research.

Nationally, 89% of Democrats and 74% of Republicans were supportive.

You can view the data, as well as information about other states, on the study’s website.

Public opinion estimates by political party are produced using a statistical model based on national survey data gathered between 2008 and 2016 by the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication and the George Mason Center for Climate Change Communication. The model combines survey data with voter registration statistics at the state and district level.
