James passed on September 28, 2017 at his residence.
Funeral service for James I. Bryant, age 91, of Clarksville, TN will be on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 3:00 PM. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again on Wednesday from 1:00 PM until the time of service.
He was born in February 2, 1926 in Marion, TN, the son of the late Alex Bryant and Doshie Ferrell Bryant. James was a retired electrician, farmer, and also worked in his family’s sawmill. He loved baseball, Nascar (#24), and even raced cars in his younger years. His grandkids called him Papa James. He was a former deacon and Sunday School teacher at Gracey Avenue Church.
He is survived by his wife, Helga Bryant, son, James A. Bryant, daughters, Deborah Bryant, Barbara Penrod, and step-children; Sabine (Jerry) Price, Marliese (Timothy) Jarrett, and Thomas Flagg, Jr., two sisters, Ruth Suiter and Skrippy (Tommy) McIntosh. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Susan McDonald, grandson, Shawn Rico, and brothers, Carl Soda and Ronnie Bryant, sisters, Thelma Perry and Lucy Armbruster.
