CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Clarksville Cyclo-cross Challenge, presented by Riverside Bicycle Shop, will be held Saturday, Oct. 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Rotary Park.

Cyclo-cross, a steeplechase type race, is the fastest growing discipline of bicycle racing. Races consist of many laps around a short (less than two miles) prescribed course that features pavement, wooded trails, grass, steep hills, and other obstacles that require the rider to dismount and carry the bicycle. Races are between 30 minutes to one hour long and are held on compact courses making it an ideal cycling event for spectators.

The Clarksville Cyclocross Challenge is sanctioned by USA Cycling and the Tennessee Bicycle Racing Association. There will be races for all ages and ability levels. Anyone with a bicycle and helmet can race. Bicycles must have a freewheel and two working brakes. Bar ends must be removed from mountain bikes.

Participants can pre-register for the race at https://www.usacycling.org/register/2013-3383. Preregistration is $20, and $25 on the day of the event. The cost is $10 for juniors and $15 for a novice class. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places.
