CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) As the date draws closer, excitement is building for the Total Solar Eclipse coming up August 21. Thousands of people including everyone from scientists to curiosity seekers will converge on Clarksville and Hopkinsville to witness the event.
That brings us to the question of where are all those people going to stay. Theresa Harrington, Executive Director of the Clarksville-Montgomery County Convention & Visitors Bureau said about 60 percent of available rooms in Clarksville-Montgomery are booked and most of the larger hotels are up to about 70 percent and some are completely sold out.
“We still have rooms available, it may not be the hotel you want and at the price you want. Some of the hotels are asking for a two or three-day minimum,” said Harrington.
Executive Director of the Hopkinsville-Christian County Convention & Visitors Bureau, Cheryl Cook, said when it comes to hotel rooms they are at over 50 percent capacity at this time and as far as cost it is somewhere around $400 a night with a three-night minimum.
Cook encouraged those wanting rooms to contact the local hotels directly, saying that sometimes when they contact the national brands they say that no rooms are available.
