CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (ESPN CLARKSVILLE) – Clarksville High School surprised Pam Whitfield with a retirement ceremony between basketball games Tuesday night.
A large crowd of family, students, parents, faculty and former players/students filled the gymnasium to celebrate Mrs. Whitfield.
Pam Whitfield is retiring after 40 years of service to Clarksville High School. This is her last home game in William Workman Gymnasium.
Members of the Workman family were on hand to congratulate her and show their appreciation.
“Even though she’s not coaching anymore, Pam is invested in the kids,” CHS Athletic Director Shannon Cummings said. “She is a staple at Clarksville High. She knows every kid by name, dad and granddad.”
Pam Whitfield has coached softball, golf and helped with many other sports and activities and she currently teaches Physical Education and Lifetime Wellness. In addition to teaching, she also runs the sound system at every home game and organizes one of the best hospitality rooms in town.
Many of Mrs. Whitfield’s prior players and students were on hand to show their love. A group of women even had custom shirts made with “Whitfield’s Wildcat Fan Club” on the front.
She was presented with a shadow box full of mementos and a bouquet of flowers.
Mrs. Whitfield wasn’t expecting a ceremony for her hard work and accomplishments but she definitely deserves it.
