CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Tennesseans for Student Success awarded a $500 scholarship to Ava Ploeckelman Tuesday, Dec. 20.

She is the winner of the summer reading initiative TristarReads and logged a total of 496 reading hours this summer.

Ava has been gone all semester studying abroad and is back in Clarksville this week. She is also a dedicated volunteer at the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library.

“Literacy is a key focus for students across the state as we all work to improve reading comprehension and literacy among our students,” Tennesseans for Student Success spokesperson Ashley Graham said. “We launched TristarReads this year to encourage students to read 20 minutes a day.”

Ava was presented with a check Tuesday at the library.
