NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – After serving the Middle Tennessee area for over 12 years, meteorologist Justin Bruce will leave News 2 in early January.
Justin will become the morning meteorologist at the ABC affiliate KTNV in Las Vegas.
He won a Regional Emmy for covering the 2008 tornado outbreak and multiple Associated Press Awards after Tennessee’s historic May 2010 floods, and inspired the perennial hashtag #BlameJustin.
Justin says leaving Nashville and News 2 was not an easy decision.
“My wife is from Las Vegas and the chance for our son to grow up with his grandparents, uncle and aunt, and godparents was too good to pass up,” said Bruce. “Leaving my work family at WKRN and our phenomenal morning viewers is bittersweet.”
Morning anchor Neil Orne called Justin one of his favorite co-workers in his 20 years at News 2.
Justin has visited hundreds of local schools over the years to educate students and teachers about weather safety. Away from work, he volunteers for Big Brothers Big Sisters and helps emcee the Ronald McDonald House of Nashville’s Calls for Kids telethon each spring. He has worked with the Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee, serving as their “cookie chairperson” each winter.
