CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Arts for Hearts, a local art outreach program will offer two free art workshops at the Clarksville –Montgomery County Public Library located at 350 Pageant Lane in Veteran’s Plaza.

The classes will be held on November 29, 2016 as part of the Arts for Hearts community outreach initiative.

All members of the community are invited to explore their creativity and to create a new artistic skillset.

Workshops and classes are taught by local artists and volunteers and all ages and abilities are encouraged to attend. Both classes will be held in the large meeting room and registration is required. Registration deadline is November 22 and the classes are limited to 15 students per class.

“Mixed Media Collage” will be taught by local artist Steven Walker from 10:00-12:00. Walker, a local artist grew up northeast of San Antonio, Texas and developed a love for art by visiting art galleries and museums. Walker has won a number of juried awards, and has had numerous newspaper articles written about his work, which is collected privately and commercially.

A “Braided Trivet” project will be taught by Tamara Darnell –Long from 4:30-6:30 pm. Darnell is a textile artist specializing in unique designs and dye techniques using traditional materials in new innovative ways. Her art has been featured on three national tours. One piece is included in the book “C” is for Clarksville and her pieces have been showcased in several textile publications. Ms. Darnell –Long lives in Clarksville.

Ann Waddle and Patricia Arancibia Wilkinson will teach a kids art activity for children between the ages of 5-10 during the 4:30-6:30 pm. class.

Arts for Hearts, a collaboration between the Arts and Heritage Development Council and the Downtown Artists Coop is committed to making art more accessible to all by bringing art education and experiences to the Clarksville-Montgomery County Community. Seed funding for the program was provided by Kara Dioguardi, American singer-songwriter and music publisher.
