CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office deputy was involved in a crash Sunday on Hwy 76 near the Exit 11 on/off ramps at 3:08 p.m.
According to a report from Tennessee Highway Patrol, Deputy Justin Slate was traveling westbound on Highway 76 while a Toyota Camry driven by 77-year-old Annie Jones was traveling eastbound. The Camry turned left to enter the on-ramp for I-24 westbound and had to cross the lane where the deputy was traveling.
When the Deputy Slate swerved to avoid the vehicle, his cruiser caught the passenger side door and t-boned the Camry.
THP said both drivers had a green light but the Camry had a “yield on green” sign. Jones will be charged with due care.
Slate and Jones were transported to Tennova Medical Center.
Jones’ passenger, 76-year-old Maxwell Jones, was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Skyline Medical Center.
