CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A dog that was found chained in a flooded yard has been surrendered to Montgomery County Animal Care and Control.

Last week, Animal Control Officer Gustwiller received a call regarding a dog submerged in water near Golf Club Lane. The officer found an older Bloodhound-type dog that was chained and unable to escape the water.

The dog was impounded and a notice was left on the property for the owners to contact Animal Control immediately.

Animal Control Director Jeanette Farrell said the owner surrendered the dog, Annabelle, on Saturday. The owner was out of town at the time of the flooding.

“The owner had in the past spoken to Animal Control about surrendering her for adoption but when he realized she was in a flood zone, he immediately surrendered her for her well-being,” Farrell said.

Annabelle will be placed in a foster home.
