CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW.COM) – Clarksville Ward 1 City Councilman Richard Garrett has started a petition on change.org in support of funding for a sports complex to be located on Tiny Town Road.

The city was considering two potential sites for the complex. The first option was on Tiny Town Road (within city limits) and the other was a spot on Rossview Road in the county.

The council eventually voted to remove funding for the complex to add to infrastructure costs instead, according to council member Deanna McLaughlin.

Garrett and other council members are now petitioning the mayor to add funding back into the budget for the sports complex, but only if it is approved for the Tiny Town Rd. location.

A special session scheduled for Tuesday, June 14, will be the last opportunity to add funding for the complex back into the capital projects budget.

The petition has hundreds of supporters, including Garrett’s fellow council member Deanna McLaughlin, who added the following comment:

“I agree with Councilman Garrett! If city tax payers are expected to build this project, it needs to be inside the city limits.

The Tiny Town Road location is accessible from many roads that connect to Tiny Town Road.

Tiny Town Road has room for private development that may come as a result of the athletic complex. Improved property value increases tax revenue without a tax increase.”
