CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A new shop in Clarksville is attracting attention from Nashville and beyond for its eclectic blend of unusual and vintage items, home décor, design, music, and art.
Journey’s Eye Studio, which opened last fall at 131 Franklin Street, is unique among Clarksville shops because of the refined eye of owner Jody Isaacs.
“Our intention is to create an inspirational shop which included our collaborative passions under one roof. Vintage, modern and industrial lighting and furnishings. Music. Designing and building lighting and furniture from all things old transportation,” she said.

A transplant from Boston, Isaacs and partner Steve Tyrrell, who heads the In House Design Team at Journey’s Eye, settled in Clarksville on what is best described as a creative impulse.
“We had been looking from the Carolinas all the way down to Savannah. One night while having dinner at The Blackhorse, we saw this location vacant and got right on the phone,” she said.

The walls of the shop are lined with vintage advertising signs, sculptures, and furnishings, found during her travels across the country. Isaacs hits the road regularly to maintain the dynamic nature of Journey’s Eye.
These revamped items include chairs, desks, bar tables, and lamps made from airplanes, motorcycles and cars.
“I’ve been doing this a lot of years and can recognize what is in circulation and what is out,” Isaacs explained, pointing out a wet bar built around an airplane prop and a glass top table made from a vintage mill cart.
Describing the collection is a challenge, but terms like vintage, industrial, and retro give some idea of what shoppers might expect.
