CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Police are investigating a homicide which occurred around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, June 17.
Multiple calls came into 911 about shots fired in the area of Franklin Street. When officers arrived in the area they found a car off the roadway in a field by Franklin and 11th Street.
They found a woman identified as 22-year-old Taren Lyles with a gunshot wound inside of a car.
She was transported from the scene and later was pronounced dead at Tennova Hospital. The crime scene was processed and the investigation is ongoing.
Her two young children were strapped into car seats in the back seat but were unharmed.
Police are following some leads, but no suspects have been identified at this time.
