CLARKSVILLE Tenn.- On Thursday, August 19, 2015, the Montgomery County Veterans Coalition conducted their monthly meeting at the Brigadier General Wendell H. Gilbert Tennessee State Veterans’ Home on 250 Arrowood Drive in Clarksville.

Among the 176 members with the coalition, 42 members toured the Clarksville Veterans’ Home under the direction of Executive Director, Ed Harries and Administrator Warren Jasper.

The mission of the Tennessee State Veterans’ Home Board is to provide skilled nursing care and rehabilitation for the veterans of Tennessee. The homes are located in Murfreesboro, Humboldt, Knoxville, and now Clarksville. The Clarksville home is targeted to open this year. Members of the coalition enjoyed the education that was provided as well as a short Question and Answer session with Executive Director Harries and Administrator Jasper.

Each of the Tennessee State Veterans’ Homes was built with the ideology of being a “home” not an institution. The facilities provide each resident a safe, home-like environment where they can experience their highest quality of life. There are libraries with computers and internet access for the residents, private dining rooms for family functions and comfortable lounges and game areas in each of the wings.

Tennessee State Veterans’ Home is recognized by U.S. News & World Report as the Best Nursing Homes in the country and all homes within the State of Tennessee are CMS rated with five stars.
