CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — Clarksville police continue the search for the suspect in the shooting death of a toddler Sunday on Princeton Dr.

Officers were called to a home in the 900 block of Princeton Dr. and found a 2-year-old boy and a man had been shot. Police said the boy, identified as Joseph Bankston, died on the scene. He would have turned three years old this month.

The man, 22-year-old Brandon Jiminez, was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he is in critical but stable condition. Spc. Jiminez is a soldier at Fort Campbell, according to officials.

Clarksville Police Department spokeswoman Officer Natalie Hall said police are looking for a suspect, who they think left the scene in a maroon Chevrolet Impala. Witnesses said the Impala may have a loud engine and tinted windows. The suspect is described as a black male wearing a long black coat with a hood and a gray checkered shirt.
