NASHVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Tennessee Professional Fire Fighters Association announced September 12 its endorsement of Republican Bill Lee for Governor in the November 6 General Election.

“Our members put their lives on the line every day to protect their neighbor’s lives and property. Today, our membership is proud to endorse Bill Lee for Governor. Mr. Lee has expressed to us that he understands the dangers of our profession. He understands the need for a fair system that takes care of first responders when they are injured on the job—not just the physical injuries but the complex and cumulative effect of PTSD and other mental illness that develop in our profession,” said President Eddie Mitchell in a press release.

“A master plumber and engineer who employs 1,200 skilled tradesmen in the construction industry, Mr. Lee understands the importance of professional training not only to do the job right but to do the job safely,” President Mitchell said. “Mr. Lee represents a transformative opportunity to unite our state behind common-sense solutions. With his commitment and support of Professional Fire Fighters and EMS Workers, we are fully supportive of his candidacy and look forward to working with him.”

The Tennessee Professional Fire Fighters Association says its mission is to protect the legislative interests of all persons engaged in full-time firefighting, fire prevention, fire instructors, EMS, Fire/EMS dispatch and other emergency related services in the State of Tennessee. The organization has 32 local chapters across the state with approximately 4,500 active and retired members.
