Clarksville Police Officers responded to a shots fired call at 4:10 Thursday afternoon near the basketball courts at Heritage Park on Peachers Mill Rd. One individual had non-life-threatening injuries from gunfire.
In a press release, Public Information Officer for the police department, Natalie Hall said this was not a random shooting. It is believed that a fight led to the gunfire.
Kenwood Elementary, Middle and High schools are located near the park. When the shots were reported, the schools were locked down. The lock-down was released and there are no children missing.
Elise Shelton, Chief Communications Officer for Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools said as soon as the shots were fired we placed the schools on lock-out which means no one can come into the schools.
Shelton added they don’t anticipate any issues Friday but the school system is going to have additional law enforcement on and near the Kenwood schools campuses to make sure everyone feels safe and secure.
