CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLE.COM) – Montgomery County announced the RJ Corman bridge on Riverside Drive will remain lit orange through July 3 in honor of Pat Head Summitt.
The winningest coach in Division I college basketball history died this week, five years after being diagnosed with early onset dementia, Alzheimer’s type.
She was 64.
A public memorial service is being planned for Summitt at Thompson-Boling Arena on the Tennessee campus July 14.
Summitt helped grow college women’s basketball as her Lady Vols dominated the sport in the late 1980s and 1990s, winning six titles in 12 years. She had a career record of 1,098-208 with eight NCAA championships, and 18 NCAA Final Four appearances in 38 seasons before stepping down in 2012.
