CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The man who was transported from the scene of a shooting Sunday morning in a Walmart Neighborhood Market parking lot has died from his injuries.

He has been identified as Jalen Johnson, 24, of Clarksville.

Early Sunday morning, police responded to multiple 911 calls related to a shooting that originated in the Walmart Neighborhood Market parking lot on Whitfield Rd.

According to a press release, bail bond agents believed a man with warrants on file was inside of a Nissan in the parking lot.  During the attempt to serve the warrants, shots were fired and the vehicle fled from the scene, almost hitting two men.

Police said the bail bond agents entered separate vehicles and chased the Nissan onto Ft Campbell Blvd. The Nissan stopped around the 2400 block of Ft Campbell Blvd and it was discovered that two men in the Nissan had sustained gunshot wounds.

Johnson was transported from the scene by ambulance and later died from his injuries.  The other victim, who has not yet been named, was treated and released.

Investigators are still determining what exactly happened and few details are available at this time. It is unclear who fired shots.

Police conducted multiple interviews Sunday and are continuing Monday. Police are asking anyone who was in the parking lot at the time of the shooting to contact the lead investigator, Detective Anderson, at 931-648-0656, ext. 5132.

No charges have been filed at this time, but Clarksville Police are working closely with the District Attorney’s office.
