CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – It was a very special night, Tuesday, April 12, at Northeast High School during the Northeast Boys Varsity last home game of the season against Northwest High School. Of course the game was exciting but there was a whole lot more going on.
It was senior night, with the senior players being honored at half time along with team members showing their support for Down Syndrome. Players, coaches and the player’s parents wore game bands with Down Syndrome colors of blue and yellow.
Starting Center back and team Captain, senior John Jasmer Junior’s 10 month old sister, Sophie has Down Syndrome. He and his sister are very close and he was by her side and donated blood for her open heart surgery last September at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.
Both Players and fans wore ribbons and shirts in honor of the down syndrome community.
