HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – Hopkinsville police are warning the public about the use of a new synthetic drug similar marijuana that has been laced with some foreign substance.

The drug is circulating throughout the area and those who use it are experiencing serious medical complications, according to a news release.

Since Thursday, November 12, officers of the Hopkinsville Police Department have noticed an extremely high increase in individuals exhibiting signs similar to psychotic episodes after using the drug. These individuals are often lethargic and appear to be going in and out of consciousness. At times and without warning, they then become aggressive and out of control.

Jennie Stuart Medical Center has reported approximately a dozen individuals displaying this type of behavior this weekend alone.

“While HPD continues to actively search for the sources of this concern, we wish to alert the public of this very serious danger,” officials said.
