CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A Hopkinsville man is suffering a loss of $1,200 after turning in a stolen trailer he purchased on Craigslist.
The Boy Scout troop trailer that the man purchased had been stolen from 1751 Madison Street sometime between Aug. 21 and 22.

When the Hopkinsville man saw a trailer for sale on Craigslist, he met the seller at Exit 11 in Clarksville and paid $1,200 for the trailer. When he got home, he noticed some of the Boy Scout decals bleeding through the paint. Police said he learned that there was a stolen Boy Scout trailer and attempted to contact the owner.
After it had been determined it was the stolen trailer, Detective Jobe contacted the Hopkinsville man, who gave a description of the man who sold it to him.
“The Hopkinsville man, who did the right thing, is now out of $1,200,” CPD spokesman Jim Knoll said.
Police have identified John Ignacio as the suspect who sold the stolen trailer. He was arrested Wednesday afternoon when he turned himself in. His bond has been set at $15,000.
Ignacio was out on bond from previous charges. He has an extensive criminal history involving robbery, identity theft, drugs, weapon possession, and theft.
