CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – One person was injured in a shooting in the Summit Heights neighborhood at 3:34 p.m. Friday.

Dshawn R. Blount, 23, of Clarksville was in a white 2007 Envoy when he was approached by an assailant and shot numerous times through the driver side window. Two small children were in the vehicle at the time. The 11-month old baby and 8-year-old boy were not injured in the shooting.

Blount was taken by ambulance to a landing zone at Barksdale School and loaded onto a LifeFlight helicopter for transport to a Nashville hospital. Blount is listed in stable condition at Vanderbilt Hospital where he is reportedly conscious and talking.

Numerous bullet casings were found at the scene near the SUV. A Summit Heights resident who called 911 reported hearing ten gunshots. The driver side window of the SUV appeared to have heavy damage.

There is no suspect in custody and no information about the suspect is being released at this time, but police believe Blount may have been the victim of mistaken identity.
