CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A 55-year-old man was severely injured in a crash caused by an 18-year-old who ran a red light in Clarksville.
Police said the crash occurred Thursday, Jan. 18 around 1:40 p.m. The 55-year-old man was driving a 99 Ford Ranger east on Crossland Ave. and had a green light. A 2011 GMC Sierra driven by an 18-year-old male was traveling south on Talley Rd. and ran a red light, crashing into the driver side of the Ford Ranger.
Witnesses said the 18-year-old was speeding when he ran the red light. Police also found marijuana inside the vehicle.
The 55-year-old was taken to Tennova by ambulance and then transferred by Air Evac to Vanderbilt Medical Center in critical condition. As of Friday he is stable and alert.
The 18-year-old had two other passengers in the GMC, a 19-year-old male and 18-year-old female. They were all uninjured.
Charges are pending.
