CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Clarksville police are asking the public for information to help find the suspects responsible for recent vandalism and burglary at Northwest Little League’s Stokes Field, located off Fort Campbell Blvd.
According to Public Information Officer Natalie Hall, the concession stand and surrounding buildings at the field have been vandalized or burglarized at least four times in the past month.
Police believe multiple suspects, possibly juveniles, are involved. It appears the suspects may be the same for each incident.
Timeline:
1. June 18 – Suspects attempted to break into a storage shed using a blowtorch on padlocks
2. June 21 – Suspects pried off a window from the concession stand using a tire iron, stole a felony amount of food
3. June 29 – Misdemeanor vandalism
4. June 30 – (early morning hours) Suspects broke in through the top floor of the building and entered the concession stand by making a hole in the floor. The damage created is considered a felony. Stolen food and a baseball bag were found near the tree line after an officer witnessed three suspects fleeing on foot.
During Tuesday morning’s incident, one of the suspects left behind a pair of Converse tennis shoes at the scene. The suspects also used a pickax in an attempt to break through the side of the concrete structure.
Northwest Little League (NWLL) members are scrambling to clean up the damage by 6 p.m. Tuesday as the 8-year-old tournament is set to begin.
Clint Moody, President of NWLL, hopes the suspects will be brought to justice soon.
“They’re taking things away from the kids. It’s all about the kids,” he said.
A $100 reward has been offered by the league for information that leads to the arrest or conviction of any suspects.
An anonymous citizen told police Wednesday he is offering an additional $100 reward for information.
“We just want it to stop. We’re trying to do things for the kids and it’s basically hurting everything we’re trying to do,” Moody said.
Officer Hall has asked the public to come forward with any information about this case. “We want to get out to anyone that’s around the area or knows anything about the suspects or about the incident to call us and let us know what they know. Give us a call so we can stop this from happening,” she said.
