CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A new ice skating rink will officially open Friday, November 24 (the day after Thanksgiving) at Clarksville’s new Downtown Commons area.

The new public event space, which is still under construction, is surrounded by 2nd St., Legion St., 3rd St., and Main St.

Paula Atkins, Event Program Manager for Downtown Commons, said the public is welcome to use the new rink during operating hours at the cost of $10 per person. Ice skates will be provided and skaters can enjoy 75-minute long skating sessions.

“The rink is the first of its kind in Clarksville,” Atkins said. “We hope everyone will come out and be part of the coolest place in town.”

The ice skating rink will be open on Nov. 24 from 6:30 p.m. to 10:45 p.m. Regular operating hours will be Monday through Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 9:15 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 9:15 p.m., and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. Hours may vary on holidays or during special events.

The ticketing office will open approximately 30 minutes before operating hours begin.

In the spring, the ice rink will make way for a large grassy area that will be surrounded by fountains, a winding water feature, chairs, bistro tables, and recreational areas. The community can expect food trucks, concerts, special events, and more in the area.

“The setting almost makes Downtown Commons your living room. People coming downtown and spending time there is what we look forward to seeing,” Atkins said.
