CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Ky. – The Christian County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) is conducting a death investigation stemming from a vehicle fire that occurred Thursday.

CCSO said a search was conducted at two additional homes Friday afternoon after new leads were discovered.

Based on information and evidence collected so far, investigators were able to obtain search warrants for two other residences in Pembroke.

Deputies with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Hopkinsville Police Department SWAT team executed the search warrants on 457 S. Main Street and 458 S. Main Street without incident shortly after 2 p.m. Friday by clearing the houses so investigators can safely enter to search for clues that may be related to Thursday’s events.

The evidence collected and information that led to these two specific residences is not being released at this time to preserve the integrity of the investigation.

Units were originally called to a vehicle fire in a field around the 3000 block of Rosetown Rd., just outside of Pembroke, Ky. Thursday.

Witnesses say they heard a noise coming from the area around 2 a.m., and the landowner discovered the vehicle at around 8:30 a.m.

Pembroke Volunteer Fire Department told officials there may possible human remains in the vehicle.

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office responded along with the coroner’s office and determined that there were human remains in the vehicle which were severely damaged by the fire, along with the car.

The remains have not yet been identified.

Agencies involved are investigating to determine the circumstances surrounding the fire. The vehicle will be removed from the scene so it can be processed.

Investigators were able to locate a vehicle tag from the scene which led them to a residence in Pembroke.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for 443 S. Main Street. They found the body of a man on the property, who appeared to have a gunshot wound to the chest.

The exact cause of the man’s death is unknown at this time.

Pieces of evidence were also found in the home.

The Sheriff’s Office is looking into the exact circumstances and connection to the earlier vehicle fire incident.

Pembroke Police Department assisted with the investigation.
