HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – A Hopkinsville teenager was killed Thursday afternoon after a piece of football equipment fell on his head during practice.
According to a news release from Hopkinsville Police spokesman Paul Ray, 17-year-old Jayvon Corley Quarles died as a result of blunt force trauma. He was helping move a large, heavy piece of metal football equipment at the practice field at Hopkinsville Middle School when the equipment accidentally fell and struck him in the head.
Quarles was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
This incident remains under investigation by the Hopkinsville Police Department Detective Section.
