CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office hosted a ceremony renaming the U.S. 41-A Bypass to the David “Bubba” Johnson Memorial Highway at 11 a.m. at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center on May 1.

Sheriff’s Deputy Johnson passed away in January of last year after he was involved in a fatal car crash while on duty.

MCSO Chaplain Ted Denny opened the ceremony with prayer, followed by remarks from State Representative Curtis Johnson, State Senator Mark Green and Montgomery County Sheriff John Fuson. Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett was also in attendance at the event.

Sheriff Fuson described Deputy Johnson as “a humble, service-oriented person who loved serving his community. He worked very diligently to protect our citizens from harm.” Fuson went on to say that renaming the highway in Johnson’s honor is “the best way we can honor the life of an extraordinary public servant.”
