OAK GROVE, Ky. – Days of Knights – A Medieval Experience is an educational and historically accurate re-creation of knights, soldiers, priests, monks, and ladies from the Middle Ages coming to Oak Grove October 2, 3, and 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at War Memorial Park.

Visitors are able to walk through a time-line encampment featuring volunteer living history enthusiasts re-creating the Vikings, the Norman conquerors of Britain in 1066, Crusaders from the 1200s, Archers and Knights from the Hundred Years War, and many others.

Students and parents alike will find Days of Knights especially appealing. Historical accuracy is stressed. This is not a Renaissance Faire – no wizards, no fantasy fiction characters, and no pirates. Wearing of costumes is not encouraged unless you are a participant, but interested parties may participate in future events if they can come in historically accurate clothing.

Visitors are able to learn about many aspects of medieval life not limited to warfare of the era, but also the roles of women and religion in society, from knowledgeable speakers and demonstrators. Clothing, armor and camp equipment are as accurately reproduced as the wearers can make them.

This is the second time Days of Knights will be held at the War Memorial Park in Oak Grove, Kentucky, the same location where it was held with great success in October of 2013. Admission is free.

The encampment area is set up in chronological/timeline along a circular, paved hiking trail predominately through woodland, but with trees far enough apart to set up tents, shielding the camps from high winds. Activities will include medieval fighting demonstrations, an evolution of medieval armor display and talk, medieval crafts, blacksmithing, arts and sciences and camp life.
