CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A series of drone videos by Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett are going viral here in Clarksville.

Durrett posted videos to his Facebook page Thursday showing snow covered areas of the county from hundreds of feet up.

The Mayor said he got the idea driving around with Chief of Staff Jeff Truitt early Thursday. “I said, wouldn’t it be great if the public could know what the roads actually looked like?” he told ClarksvilleNow.com.

Within hours, the videos received thousands of views and comments, including some wondering if tax dollars were used for the project.

“No, the county didn’t pay for that,” Durrett said. “I paid for it out of my own pocket and was just something I thought would be a good way to get information to the public.”
