HILLVIEW, Ky. – A photo of Officer John Nissen with the Hillview Police Department in Louisville has gone viral after he consoled a woman who had just learned of her sister’s death.
It happened July 24. Nissen received a call from dispatch about a distressed motorist, who had pulled over on the side of a road.
“All we knew from the dispatch call was that there was a woman who was crying and needed help in her car. She opened the door for us when we approached, and I could see she was visibly upset,” he told People Magazine.
The woman, Barbie Henderson, had just found out her sister had passed away and she became so upset, she called 911.
A photo of Nissen comforting Henderson has gone viral.
On the Hillview Police Department Facebook page, the Henderson’s sister revealed that she’s from Clarksville and gave this account:
“As she cried, he listen to her and wiped away her tears. He made sure she drank water as it was extremely hot outside, and he spoke to the family on the phone each time we called until my arrival. When I arrived he wasn’t standing on the side of the car. He was seated right next to her just as we would’ve been while she was grieving. What an awesome guy!!!!”
The photo has since received nearly 10,000 likes and 2,000 shares.
