CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – First Presbyterian Church will host a forum regarding the proposal to build a civic square on the former Bank of America property in downtown Clarksville.
The forum will begin at 4:30 pm on Thursday, April 9, in the sanctuary located at 213 Main Street. The public is invited to participate.
The purpose of the forum is to provide information about the findings and recommendations of the landscape architects and economic development studies that have been ongoing since downtown stakeholders were invited to provide input in August 2014.

Proposed downtown lot would serve as public gathering space
City Mayor Kim McMillan and County Mayor Jim Durrett have been invited to address the forum and Richie Jones of Hodgson & Douglas (landscape architecture, planning, urban design, Nashville) and Randall Gross (real estate and economic development planning firm, Development Economics, Nashville) have been invited to make presentations. Professor Emeritus David Kanervo will serve as moderator for the public Q&A. All City Council members and County Commissioners are invited to participate along with downtown businesses and the Austin Peay community.
Rev. Dr. Gregory Glover, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, said members of his congregation have been very interested in the proposal.
“Since the proposed square would be located directly across from our main entrance, we have a particular interest in the results of the work being done by the designers and the economic impact on the surrounding area,” Glover said. “Our church will be directly affected by whatever is developed here, besides which, as good citizens we feel a particular civic responsibility to our neighbors to host this conversation.”
