CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville’s First Church of the Nazarene will host A Night to Shine, a free prom for those with special needs Feb. 10.

The event was made possible by a generous grant from the Tim Tebow Foundation, which will host a Night to Shine at more than 350 churches around the world.

Individuals with special needs age 14 and up are eligible to attend. Registration is available online.

Volunteers are still needed for the event.

The event was organized by Holli Cougle, wife of Pastor Josh Cougle at First Church of the Nazarene. She found photos and footage from last year’s Night to Shine and was inspired to apply for a grant to bring the prom to Clarksville.

“Our church is full of compassionate people who go out of their way to do things for others. I thought, ‘This is for us,'” she said.

Honored guests will receive the red carpet treatment during the event with photos, hair, makeup, stylists, limo service, and more. When guests arrive they will be welcomed by a cheering crowd and friendly paparazzi.

All Night to Shine guests will be crowned kings and queens of the prom.

“Our goal is to treat each one of them like a king and queen for the night,” Cougle said.

The fun continues with karaoke, food, and dancing. Thanks to the grant, the event is completely free of charge to participants and is modeled to provide the complete prom experience.

Parents and caregivers can make use of a respite room to eat and relax for the night. Chick-Fil-A has agreed to cater the event.

“So many times these kids get overlooked and we just want to show them how special they are, how important they are, and show them God’s love for them,” Cougle said.
