CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (Clarksvillenow.com) After a facebook message to Clarksvillenow.com, close to 70 people gathered at the McGregor Park Riverwalk on Riverside Drive Sunday, June 12 for a candlelight vigil to remember the 50 victims killed in the Pulse Nightclub shooting in Orlando, Florida. The event was organized by Kendal Holzman, Mid South Regional Coordinator of “The Change Project”.

After the candles were lit and handed out, Holzman spoke to the group and then asked for a moment of silence. At that point anyone who wanted to share their feelings were given a chance to speak. Holzman talked about showing solidarity in the Clarksville community for the lives lost in the horrendous hate crime in Orlando.
“It was really important to me to gather, where I live now, in Clarksville, to show that there is community everywhere and that we are all standing together and we all love each other and we don’t have to solve any of this with hate,” said Holzman. Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan also attended the candlelight vigil.
