Investigators with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office have identified the victim found in the Cumberland River Monday morning as Jesse Lee Myer, 31, of Clarksville.

Sandra Brandon, Public Information Officer with the Sheriff’s Office, says they are waiting for the next of kin to be notified before releasing the victim’s name.

PALMYRA, Tenn. – The body of a man was found on the Cumberland River Monday morning.

Jerry Buchanan, Director of the Montgomery County EMA, told WKRN News 2 they received a call about a body in the water around 8 a.m.

Sandra Brandon, Public Information Officer with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, said MCSO Deputies, Emergency Medical Services, and the Rescue Squad were dispatched to the area after a boater called 911.

Upon arrival deputies were able to locate the body of a white male on the riverbank near the Yellow Creek Boat Ramp. Brandon said there were no apparent signs of trauma.

The victim has been identified as as Jesse Lee Myer, 31, of Clarksville.

Investigators do not suspect foul play.

Cause of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner in Nashville, and official autopsy results will take 6-8 weeks.
