Jeff and Sherri Robinson are the owners of Blackhorse Pub & Brewery which opened its doors in 1992, and they sat down recently with Clarksvillenow.com to talk a little bit about the history of Blackhorse and some of the exciting things going on there.

Robinson was stationed at Fort Campbell and he served in Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Soon after returning from deployment Robinson left the Army but he and Sherri decided they liked it in Clarksville and soon after opened the Franklin Street Pub at 132 Franklin St.

Sherri added that she felt like it was a dream of Jeff’s to open a business, specifically a pub. She said they are one of the few family-owned restaurants downtown, they are an independently owned business and of course they brew beer.

“I also think our commitment to providing the best food, the best service, and the best atmosphere possible is what we hope sets us apart,” Sherri said. Jeff said they have also had a lot of really good people work at Blackhorse over the past 25 years.

“We get people who work here who buy into what we’re doing and they’re happy they are working here and then that translates into them providing better service and building relationships with a lot of the regular customers, and that translates on down the line into better business,” Jeff said.

“We’ve had everything happen in this building, from wedding proposals, to weddings to wakes. We’ve been really blessed to be part of people’s lives and they share that with us. It makes our business special to have people that come and share really special moments with us. We want to be here another 25 years,” Sherri said.
