CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A five-year-old boy was injured in a hit and run incident at Heritage Park Saturday, July 28.

According to police, the child was hit by a gray SUV, possibly a Toyota 4-runner, while walking through the parking lot.

The driver was described as a man between the ages of 35 to 40 wearing square-framed glasses with a female passenger of a similar age.

Witnesses said after hitting the child, the driver stopped the car and said, “People should not be running through the parking lot” before speeding off toward Peachers Mill Rd.

Officers stopped several vehicles matching the description shortly after the crash, but could not find the suspect.

The child was transported by ambulance to the hospital with a non-life threatening leg injury.
