CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Youth Villages is looking for caring adults in the Clarksville area interested in making a difference in the lives of children in need of loving foster homes.

Free foster parent training starts Aug. 22 at 9 a.m. at the Youth Villages office, located at 651 Stowe Court.

Children enter foster care when their homes are not deemed safe or appropriate. Many children taken into foster care have experienced abuse, neglect or other trauma, and may have emotional and behavioral issues. Children in foster care receive therapy and support but need a nurturing, committed family to help them understand they are loved and can thrive. Many children in foster care end up returning to a member of their birth family, while others require an adoptive family. Foster families are often the first in line to adopt children in need. Youth Villages helps guide families who want to adopt their foster child through the adoption process. Adoptions through Youth Villages are free.

Youth Villages provides free training and 24/7 support to foster families, as well as foster parent support groups. Foster parents also receive a monthly stipend to help offset the cost of adding a child to their household.
