CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville youth will have the opportunity to take to the skies on September 7 during Young Eagles Day. The event, hosted by the local EAA Chapter 1605, allows youth 8 – 17 years old the opportunity for a free airplane ride.
The mission of the program is to introduce and inspire kids in the world of aviation. For the past 25 years, over two million young people have participated in the Young Eagles Program.
All flights are made possible through the generosity of EAA member volunteers. Flights will take off and land at the Clarksville Regional Airport.
The pilots who participate in the program volunteer their time and aircraft. They are each certified with the Federal Aviation Administration.
Prior to the flight, pilots will explain to the participants how the airplanes work and describe the part of the plane and instruments inside. They will also review all safety instructions prior to every flight.
Each flight lasts 15 to 20 minutes and will follow the basic steps in the flight pattern. Time slots are indicated on the registration.
To register your child for a flight sign up here. Space is limited.
