CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – What better way to spend a winter day than supporting Special Olympics Tennessee and taking the plunge, the Polar Plunge, into the Foy Pool at Austin Peay State University.

“You’ll be Freezin’ for a Reason” on Saturday, February 22 as you enjoy a chilly dip. Registration opens at 10 a.m. with the first plunge at 11:00. More than 50 brave souls have already signed up to take the plunge.

For a minimum of a $50 donation, $30 for students, you’ll receive an official long-sleeved Polar Plunge t-shirt, lunch and bragging rights for being Bolder and Colder.

Amy Parker, Vice President of Marketing and Development for Special Olympics Tennessee, talked about the fundraiser. “This event is one of nine in Tennessee and proceeds from the events go to help support more than 17,000 Special Olympics athletes across the state,” said Parker.

Parker added that costumes are encouraged for those attending and spectators of all ages are welcome to enjoy the fun free of charge.

The Clarksville Police Department will be on hand at the Polar Plunge to show their support for Special Olympics. Leading up to the Polar Plunge the police department raised $3,800 for Special Olympics in two Tip-A-Cop events in Clarksville.
