Update, 6:15 p.m.: The roadway is back open.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A woman was hit by a truck while trying to crossing Providence Boulevard Thursday evening.

At about 4:41 p.m., a truck going south on Providence hit the woman as she was trying to cross near Peachers Mill Road, according to Clarksville Police spokesman Officer Scott Beaubien. The woman was not in a crosswalk.

As of 5:20 p.m., the southbound lanes of Providence were shut down and traffic was being diverted down Peach Street, he said.

The pedestrian was being flown to Nashville by LifeFlight helicopter. FACT investigators are enroute to the scene, and motorists are advised to find an alternate route until the roadway can be cleared.
