Deputies and medical personnel in the detention facility responded to assist the mother, he said. She was transported by Montgomery County EMS to the hospital. She is still under the supervision of the Sheriff’s Office, Delaney said on Monday.
A fellow inmate speaking on condition of anonymity told Clarksville Now that an hour before the birth, she heard the woman complaining of contractions and asking to be taken to the hospital, but her request was denied. She said the woman gave birth in her cell without medical care.
Clarksville Now asked MCSO to respond to those claims. Delaney said the MCSO Detention Services Bureau is conducting a review of the incident, and no further information could be released.
