CHRISTIAN COUNTY, KY. – A Christian County woman made a horrific discovery this week, and she is asking for the community’s help in providing justice for an abandoned animal.

Caroline Adam found a crate on the side of the road about a quarter of a mile from her home on Pembroke Rd. (Highway 115). She assumed it was someone’s trash and thought nothing of it. The next day, however, the crate was gone, and in its place was a severely emaciated female pit bull. It didn’t take long for Adam to determine that the dog was dead. A small pillow was found beside the dog’s body.

“She had been left in a crate for what appears to be a long time without food or water,” Adam said. “Long enough for her feces to fill the crate elbow high, until she finally succumbed to her brutal and painful death.”

Adam contacted local authorities and an investigation is underway. She is currently collecting donations for the dog’s cremation, and hopes to scatter her ashes at the scenic outlook of the Clarksville Greenway. She wants to get people together for the cremation ceremony once it is possible.

“I want her to know that even though we did not know her that she is loved by many,” she said. “I wonder what kind of human could listen to her cries of pain as her body slowly started to eat away at itself. How many days, weeks did she have to suffer before finally succumbing to her final day of pain and confusion?”

Anyone with information about this incident can contact the Christian County Sheriff’s Office. To make a donation, visit Caroline Adam’s youcaring.com page.
