CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A woman jumped off the Cunningham Bridge into the Cumberland River on Tuesday evening, and her body was recovered shortly afterward.

At about 7 p.m., bystanders on Zinc Plant Road and at the Catfish House restaurant called 911 to report seeing the woman jump, according to Clarksville Fire Rescue Assistant Chief Michael Rios.

He said several agencies converged on the scene to try to rescue the woman. They were able to recover her, but she was deceased, Rios said.

Montgomery County Rescue Squad retrieved her from the water. CFR Fire Boat assisted with its new Technical Rescue Squad members on board. EMS was on both boats.

She was recovered near the entry to the marina, Rios said.
