CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Two people have been charged in the 2024 slaying of a Fort Campbell soldier, Pfc. Katia Duenas Aguilar: a woman charged with murder and Aguilar’s husband with tampering with evidence.
On the night of May 18, police responded to an ambulance call in the 900 block of Tiny Town Road, according to previous reports. Inside the residence they found Aguilar dead, and her death was ruled a homicide. According to the autopsy report completed June 28, Aguilar was stabbed to death, with approximately 68 wounds to her neck, head, chest and shoulder.

In the months following, the League of United Latin American Citizens announced it would reward any information that leads to an arrest and conviction with $25,000. The family of Aguilar offered an additional $30,000 reward.
In December, Clarksville Police, in collaboration with the Army Criminal Investigation Division, presented their investigation findings to the Montgomery County Grand Jury, according to a news release Saturday morning from CPD spokesman Officer Scott Beaubien. The investigation was led by CPD Detective Hofinga and Army CID Special Agent Gerardo Serriteno.
The grand jury indicted Sofia Rodas, 35, on charges of first-degree murder and tampering with evidence. Additionally, they indicted Reynaldo Salinas Cruz, 40, the husband of Aguilar, on a charge of tampering with evidence.
Both Rodas and Cruz were already in federal custody on unrelated charges. They were extradited to Clarksville on Friday and booked into Montgomery County Jail.
“This case remains an open and active investigation and is now awaiting prosecution,” Beaubien said. “The successful progression of this case highlights the critical partnership between local law enforcement and military authorities in addressing severe crimes that impact service members and their families.”
