MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn. – A woman from Vanleer, TN was charged with DUI and reckless endangerment after she was discovered driving erratically with her 17-month-old daughter in the vehicle Monday around 9:41 a.m.
According to an arrest warrant, multiple witnesses observed Amber Caudle, 22, driving from Stewart County to Montgomery County on Indian Mound Rd. One witness said he had seen Caudle vandalize a mobile home in Stewart County and began to follow her. While she was driving, the man saw her run off the road into a ditch and back out again and almost hit several mailboxes.
The witness followed Caudle to Oakwood Market where he contacted police. Two other witnesses told authorities they saw Caudle run off the road.
When the deputy made contact with Caudle, he said she was sweating profusely and seemed confused. She was unable to understand questions or explain what she had been doing in complete sentences.
Caudle refused to perform a field sobriety test and was placed under arrest for DUI. She resisted arrest by screaming and pulling away from the deputies, and they placed her in the patrol car and rolled down a window so she could cool down. Caudle then attempted to climb through the backseat and out the window.
EMS examined both Caudle and the child, and the baby was placed in the custody of a family friend. The case was referred to DCS.
Caudle was transported to the Montgomery County Jail and a search warrant was obtained for a blood test. She was charged with DUI, reckless endangerment, violation of implied consent law, and resisting arrest. Her bond was set at $105,000.
