CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Police have arrested a woman for fatally shooting her husband at an apartment complex in St. Bethlehem earlier this month.
On Feb. 4 at about 7:45 p.m., Clarksville Police responded to an ambulance call at 841 Professional Park Drive in the area of Dunlop Lane and Ted Crozier Boulevard, according to an arrest warrant obtained by Clarksville Now. The caller, 49-year-old Wilonda Young, told dispatchers her husband was unresponsive.
Officers found Wilonda Young in the living room performing CPR on 55-year-old Vincent Young, the warrant states. When the officers took over CPR, they saw a “puncture-type injury” to Vincent’s abdomen. Vincent Young was transported to Tennova Healthcare-Clarksville, where he was pronounced dead.
Wilonda Young told detectives she was involved in an argument with her husband that turned physical, according to the warrant. She said she got a handgun from their bedroom (later confirmed to be a 9 mm) and walked into the living room while holding it in her pocket. She said the fight became physical again, and the firearm “went off,” striking Vincent.
The case has been bound over to the grand jury.
