CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A local woman was recently charged with driving under the influence after being involved in an accident with three small children in her vehicle.
Shortly after 7 p.m. on December 20, an officer responded to a crash at the intersection of Dunlop Lane and Lynnwood Circle. The driver was Tina Evans, 23, who stated that she attempted to make a left turn without yielding, according to an arrest warrant. One child age 3, and two 18-month-old children were in the Chevy Equinox with Evans.
While checking for injuries, the officer noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. When asked about the odor, Evans told the officer that a “burned roach” was in the center console. A bag containing a leafy green substance was also found. Both items later tested positive for THC, main ingredient found in marijuana.
While speaking to Evans, the officer noticed an odor of alcohol on her breath. In addition to smoking marijuana earlier that morning, she admitted that had consumed a “mango/orange juice with vodka type beverage” about two hours prior to the accident. Evans then performed poorly on Standardized Filed Sobriety Tests given to her by the officer.
She was arrested and booked into the Montgomery County jail on charges of driving under the influence, reckless endangerment, simple possession and failure to yield. Her bond was set at $4,500 Bond.
